i don't care what any of you say...

you can trot out your latest talking points, your latest
bon mots carefully considered and tested by all the bought and paid for think tanks and rustic, country fried focus groups. you can pull out your conventional wisdom about how and when this and that ought to be done and what and where such and such a thing must not be. i know how you naysayers are and i say "fie!" i bite my fist, sirs, and i bite it at thee -- i make no effort to hide the fact.
i've heard too much of your cynicism, your half-conscious ironies. i've been here too long to think anything of your little bits of cleverness, so simperingly offered as evidence of your sophistication, that famed "british wit." oh yes, i've seen it all, comrades, and i am not amused.
so i don't care what any of you say, how you might try to knock me down for stepping out of line, refusing to toe that proverbial party line, drawn so neatly in the sand by so many hands, over-wrung and over-wrought. i may find myself in the minority and, should that change, i might myself change so as to maintain my former condition, because that's what builds character: struggle. but character is something you'd know nothing about.
